| The
San Diego Performing Arts League works to promote and advance the
performing arts in San Diego County by creating awareness of music,
dance, and theatre; helping member organizations build new audiences;
and providing programs and services that help arts organizations
build their capacity to grow and thrive. The League also works
to create community with the performing arts through advocacy and
volunteer recognition.
As
a non-profit arts service organization, the League must raise a
significant portion of its budget to fulfill its mission.
The support of generous individuals, corporate sponsors, foundations,
the City of San Diego Commission for Arts & Culture, and the
County of San Diego Board of Supervisors helped the League reach
significant milestones in its 20th year.
- Increased
the number of arts organizations we serve to 153 theatre, music,
and dance companies in San Diego County - the largest
in our history - and advanced our communication and service through
a new monthly online newsletter.
- Filled empty
theatre seats by selling more than 35,000 tickets to residents
and visitors from our ARTS TIX half-price ticket booth,
resulting in nearly $700,000 in new revenue returned to
partcipating arts groups.
- ARTS
TIX Online sales now account for 57% of ARTS TIX sales,
making day-of-show discount tickets more accessible for more San
Diego County residents.
- There were
82 volunteers recognized at the 2006
STAR Awards celebration of volunteers in the performing
arts -- the most ever.
