San Diego Performing Arts League Names New

 Executive Director

San Diegan
Stephanie Casenza takes helm of service organization

San DiegoApril 21, 2004 Andrew Brooks, San Diego Performing Arts League president, announced the appointment of Stephanie Casenza as the new executive director. A national search, led by past president Pat JaCoby, helped secure Ms. Casenza, who quickly rose to the top in a field of candidates from across the nation.

Casenza, a resident of Point Loma, brings a broad base of experience in management, fund raising and non-profit marketing and public relations, along with a strong knowledge of the San Diego region. Prior to her appointment, she was contracted by SDSU to assist with special projects and fund raising for their new Alumni Center.  Previous to that, she was director of communications at Alliance Healthcare Foundation and a public relations consultant specializing in non-profits.

“Our search committee found Stephanie to be a highly professional, disciplined and results-oriented individual,” explained Pat JaCoby. “Her education and experience has prepared her well for this position. She has been employed by and volunteered for a variety of non-profit organizations and has demonstrated a preference for that sector, while at the same time understanding and feeling comfortable in the business world.” Casenza recently completed a master of science in executive leadership at University of San Diego’s School of Business. She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism at San Diego State University.

“I look forward to being a part of a new chapter in the history of the Performing Arts League,” said Casenza. “I know my experiences in fund raising, sponsorships, public relations and advocacy, combined with my passion for the arts, will lead to further success for the League and help strengthen their already outstanding programs and services.”

Casenza replaced Alan Ziter, becoming the second person to hold that post in the 20 year history of the League. She assumed her duties on April 12 and will officially be introduced to the performing arts community at STAR Awards on June 1, the League’s annual salute to volunteers.
